There are several different products that will help control white grubs in the lawn but timing of application is important. White grubs are the larvae of beetles that feed on the roots of turfgrass. They do the most damage in the late summer and fall right after they hatch when they are young, small, and actively feeding on grass roots. In the late fall and winter, they move down deeper in the soil. By the spring, they have grown larger and move up closer to the surface again but these large grubs don't feed much so chemical controls don't work as well at this time of the year.
Bayer Advanced Season Long Grub Control, Bonide Annual Grub Beater, or Scotts GrubEx can be applied from May through mid-August to provide good control for grubs. Always read and follow the label directions when using any pesticide.
