We are seeing incresed amounts of various sized circles in the grass area in our yard. We have zozia grass and the circles are very noticable in the dorment period.

What causes these circles and what is the cure?

Thanks

If they are rings or arcs of brighter green grass, then they are fairy rings. These rings are caused by soil fungi which produce these rings or arcs as they decompose organic matter in the soil. There is no cure for this - if that is what it is. You could feed the zoysia and when it greens up and is growing, the fairy rings will not be so noticeable.

No, not really. If they are fairy rings, the fungi are feeding on organic matter in the soil. Perhaps there is a buried stump or some other decaying debris in the soil. You would have to dig up and remove the source of organic matter and that wouldn't be easy!
